Trains Around the Christmas Tree

A pair of O gauge trains running around the little Christmas tree in my room. The passenger train is a Lionel Lionmaster 4-6-6-4 Challenger pulling a string of MTH aluminum streamliner cars. The freight train is an assortment of O-27 cars pulled by a Lionel Lionmaster SD90. Both trains are running under TMCC. I turned the sounds off because the sound in the Challenger keeps cutting out (the battery needs to be replaced). The track is K-Line Super-Snap track. The inner loop is O-31, the outer O-42.

I hope you all enjoy this icon directly from my childhood memories of Christmases past. I've been longing to get one of these trees for many years. The tree is a 6 foot vintage 1960's era Evergleem stainless aluminum tree with accompanying color wheel. Next year, I hope to add the revolving tree stand! Thanks to Brad for one of the best and most thoughtful Christmast gifts ever!

My Aluminum Christmas Tree (2009)

It was fifty years ago this year that the very first aluminum Christmas trees made their debut. They were only around for a decade or two, but while they were here, they were awesome. The first Christmas tree I remember as a kid was the old six foot Evergleam my family had back in 1964, and I've always missed the sparkle and glow these things put out under the color wheel. After several years of "I wanna get a new aluminum tree for Christmas someday", I finally got off my butt and did it! Now I have the classic retro look with the kick of 21st Century tech. Footage shot with a Flip Ultra digital camcorder and edited through Roxio Videowave. Background music is "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" by The Hollyridge Strings. Merry Christmas, everyone!
